Pete Vergot – Retiring after 25 years of service

We would like to honor District Extension Director, Dr. Pete Vergot, for his 25 years of dedicated service to UF/IFAS. He has left an indelible mark on our institution. His passion for education, outreach, and innovation has been an inspiration to us all, and his tireless efforts have helped shape the face of Extension at the University of Florida.

Dr. Vergot’s commitment to innovation and technology has been a hallmark of his work in Extension. He has always been a big proponent of integrating technology into Extension programming, and his leadership in this area has helped to position UF/IFAS as a leader in digital Extension. His vision and dedication have helped to ensure that Extension remains relevant and responsive to the changing needs of our communities.

Dr. Vergot’s contributions to UF/IFAS and Extension have been invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for his many years of service. His dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment to our mission have made a lasting impact on the lives of countless Floridians, and we will miss him greatly as he embarks on his well-deserved retirement.

As Dr. Vergot prepares to retire in August, we want to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation for all that he has done for UF/IFAS and Extension. His legacy will continue to inspire us for many years to come, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Thank you, Dr. Vergot, for everything you have done for us.

Dr. Pete Vergot III, retired as the District Extension Director of the Northwest Extension District, on August 4, 2023. With 40 years of dedicated service in Extension work.

It has been an absolute honor and privilege to serve the University of Florida IFAS Extension for the past 26 years. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most talented and dedicated individuals in the field. Together, we have made a meaningful impact in the communities we serve, and I am proud to have been part of this mission-driven work.

As I prepare for this next chapter, I will always treasure the relationships I have formed and the memories I have made with all of you—my colleagues, partners, and clients. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities, support, and guidance that the University of Florida IFAS Extension has provided me throughout my career.

I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to each of you. Your dedication and commitment to our shared mission have been truly inspiring. I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and am confident that you will continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of the people we serve. 

It is time for me to embark on a new journey in life alongside my wife Cheryl.
